Patrick is our resident Scotsman but considers himself an honorary Yorkshireman, having lived in Leeds since 2004.
He graduated from Glasgow University in 2004 and has since worked in various positions in practice and hospital settings. His first job in Leeds was at Leeds Dental Institute and he still teaches the undergraduates there every Thursday.
His dentistry is based on principles focused on keeping his patients’ teeth healthy and reliable. He places a strong emphasis on prevention, aiming to maintain gum and tooth health. He enjoys tackling the whole range of “routine” dentistry, from gum health to white (composite) fillings, root canals, dentures, and crown work. He likes to provide thoughtful dentistry, aiming to make any intervention as worthwhile and long-lasting as he can, trying to anticipate future pitfalls whilst planning and delivering his patients’ care. He is an empathetic dentist and appreciates that, for many patients, the emotional and psychological element of dentistry presents the greatest challenge.
Outside of dentistry, Patrick is not the type to sit still for more than half an hour at a time. Married with two kids, the children keep him busy with exploring, reading, sports and adventures. Keep your eyes peeled and you might see him running or cycling to and from work in an effort to keep fit and minimise his carbon footprint.
